Go Fly a Kite!

Does anyone fly kites anymore? I wanted to pick up an inexpensive kite for the kids this summer, but it was surprisingly difficult to find one. We went to four different stores and we only found one kite in an open package that appeared to be missing the string. You would think that toy stores in the Midwest would carry these staples of childhood fun, but this is not true.

Fortunately, my old friend the Internet was there to save the day, as always. A few clicks of the mouse and two kites were on their way from Picture Pretty Kites to our house. I’ve posted some photos from our first time flying the Nemo kite in the Pioneer Woods Forest Preserve. Dory made her debut on another June morning.

The photos from June also include an updated family portrait and some shots of the kids enjoying their kiddie pool.

I love picture #6 of the kids. This set is adorable. Great overalls too!

You know, I noticed this too, earlier this summer when I was looking for a kite. I may have to try to order one online now. You know, now that it's winter.

Thanks, Marla. :-)

Jamie, I was longing for the kite shop in Laguna Beach. I kept thinking that there has to be a place near our little corner of the Midwest that sells kites, but online was the way to go. I'd recommend Picture Pretty Kites based on the kites that we ordered from them.
